Public Health expert & specialist in Social & BCC
Omar is currently the Executive Director of HePDO since 2007. As the Executive Director he is responsible for the organization’s consistent achievement of its mission and financial objectives. He oversees program and management portfolios that enhance the mission and vision of the organisation.
Prior to joining HePDO in 2007, he has worked for the Ministry of Health as Public Health Officer and the Kanifing Municipal Council as a Senior Manager in the Cleansing Services Unit. Omar has over 22 years working experience in the field of public and environmental health. He is a Public Health expert and specialist in Social and Behavioural Change Communication.
He has spearheaded the transformation of HePDO from CBO to national NGO that now operates countrywide.
Omar holds MBA degree in Health Care Administration from Taipei Medical University, a BSc in Public and Environmental Health from the University of The Gambia and Diploma & Certificate in Public Health from Gambia College.

Omar is a son of a farmer and was born in rural Gambia in a place called Mamaut Fana located in the Central River Region of the Gambia. He still practices farming activities on a small scale during the rainy season by growing maize for his family.
